Daniel Otunge – OFAB Project Manager

Daniel Otunge – OFAB Regional Coordinator Daniel Otunge is a development communication expert with over 15 years’ experience. He holds a Master of Arts degrees in Philosophy and Development Communication, a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Nairobi. He has attended several skill-building courses in advocacy, communication and journalism in Africa, Asia, USA and Europe. Before joining AATF in 2012 as OFAB Project Coordinator, Daniel was the head of Communication and Advocacy at the African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA) where he helped establish and manage the communication department responsible for corporate communication, membership relations, events management, strategic communication, logistics and biotechnology outreach programme targeting seed companies and national seed trade associations in Africa, among other key AFSTA stakeholders. Prior to that Daniel worked for about six years as Communication Officer with the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA AfriCenter) where, inter alia, he coordinated activities of the Biotechnology Information Centres (BICS) in Africa. Daniel has taught mass communication, public relations and development communication at St Paul’s University, Kenya, and Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, as an adjunct lecturer and faculty member, respectively. He has also offered development and strategic communication consultancies to various local, regional and international institutions. Daniel is a media and journalism professional, having worked with the Standard Newspapers and The Economic Review as a reporter and editor, respectively. As OFAB Project Manager, Daniel is charged with ensuring effective delivery of the project’s mandate. Daniel is Kenyan.
