Suleiman Okoth – Programme Officer, OFAB

Suleiman is a development practitioner and a communication professional with over seven years’ experience in policy advocacy, networking and stakeholder engagement, developing communication strategies, media relations, capacity building and communication management and consultancy in Africa, Asia and US. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Communications Studies (Strategic Communication) from New Mexico State University, USA, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Curtin University, Australia and a Diploma in Advertising, Multimedia and Broadcasting from Limkokwing University, Malaysia. Before joining AATF, Suleiman was a Policy Associate at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) where he helped manage relationships with key partners in the national and county governments, non-profit organisations, foundations, multilateral aid agencies, and the private sector across Kenya. He also served as a Communication Consultant for Leonard Cheshire Disability - Girls Education Challenge (GEC) project and was Project Manager for a sanitation advocacy project (Community Voices) in Kenya, where he helped improve dialogue and influence policies on sanitation issues; employing rights-based and evidence-based approaches to development while influencing decision-makers (duty bearers) to be accountable to beneficiaries (rights-holders) besides achieving development objectives and project objectives through forging strategic partnerships with different stakeholders. Similarly, he was a Graduate Assistant at New Mexico State University, USA and also taught undergraduate and graduate students as a part-time lecturer at Maseno University, Kenya. As Programme Officer – OFAB, Suleiman is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of OFAB Project grassroots and high-level communication and advocacy campaigns. Suleiman is a Kenyan national.
