Join us for March for Science on Saturday, 22 April 2017, from 9am to 12noon to commemorate the World Earth Day and march in support of science. In Kenya, the March will be held concurrently in Nairobi, Kirinyaga and Kakamega.
The Kenya March for Science
The March for Science is a global event to get people who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to take a public stand. In Kenya, the March is organised by the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) in partnership with Integrated Community Organisation for Sustainable Empowerment and Education for Development (ICOSEED), African Biotechnology Stakeholders Forum (ABSF) and Rural Outreach Program (ROP) in collaboration with Cornell Alliance for Science and other partners. It is not just a march for scientists. It is a peaceful march for all people who share and appreciate the role of science in our society – farmers, doctors, youth, educationalists etc.
The event will bring together people who value science and recognise how science serves our community in solidarity with the global march. Diversity is important to bring out different strengths: a wealth of opinions, perspectives, and ideas that are critical for the scientific process. While we come from different backgrounds – ethnic, religious, social economic, political etc. – our love for science and insatiable curiosity unites us. We all recognise that science is everywhere and affects everyone.
Join us in the March for Science to amplify our voices in support for science in Kenya! #March4ScienceKE
