AATF and the Commission of the African Union (AU) sign MoU

The African Agricultural Technology (AATF) and the Commission of the African Union (AU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, 23 January 2012, at an event attended by HE Dr Ibrahim Miyaki, the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency Chief Executive Officer in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and HE Mrs Rhoda Tumusiime Peace, the AU Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture. The MoU is a culmination of various consultations between the two organisations on areas of mutual interest and collaboration.

The Commission and AATF will work together on matters related to agricultural technology access and transfer, stewardship, intellectual property, regulatory matters and public/private partnerships for agricultural development. The two organisations will also identify and promote partnerships at national, sub-regional and regional levels that will enhance the effectiveness and impact of agricultural technology transfer.
